This workshop introduces participants to different
personality elements that affect their work with
young children and discusses professionalism in the
workplace.

This workshop explores different types of
communication and conflict resolution strategies.

105 An Ethical Practitioner (Zoom)

This workshop introduces participants to the
NAEYC Professional Ethics Code for Early
Childhood Educators.

105 Recognizing your Perspective (Zoom)

This lesson briefly introduces the unit. It introduces
the concept that every person has a unique
perspective and supports teachers in exploring how
their perspectives can influence their work with
children.

105 Learning to Observe (Zoom)

This workshop introduces students to the principles
of observations, specifically the need for observations
to be detailed and objective. Students generate
reasons that observations are important for early
educators. Students practice observing, identifying
subjective and objective words, and are introduced to
the concept of red-flag words.

105 Learning to Write Descriptions (Zoom)

In this workshop, participants will be briefly
introduced to different types of observation
methods. They will also learn how to write narrative
observations in two different formats: running
records and anecdotal records.

105 Assessment of Children (Zoom)

In this workshop, participants will discuss common
methods of assessment in early childhood and
learn the steps of the assessment cycle. They will
practice using a tool to prompt reflection in their
observations.

In this workshop, participants will explore
fundamental elements of child rearing influenced
by culture. They will watch videos of families
worldwide, explore interactive resources, and
reflect on potential misunderstandings between
families and early childhood professionals.

In this workshop, participants will be introduced
to the concept of funds of knowledge. They will
identify funds of knowledge in their own lives
and ways they may understand and incorporate
funds of knowledge in the lives of children and
families.

In this workshop, participants will discuss key
components of building relationships with

families. They will practice using a strengths-
based framework. They will also identify

strategies for early childhood educators to build
relationships with families.

In this workshop, participants will discuss ways
to support families who may need extra support
from a program; in particular, they will focus on
families of children with disabilities and families
in crisis.

In this workshop, participants will explore the
history of early childhood care and education
and will reflect on how broader societal trends
connect to their own personal and familial
experiences.

the components of an early childhood
program, and create a working definition.
They will explore different types of early
childhood programs, and learn about
different early childhood philosophies.

In this workshop, participants will explore
early childhood licensing regulations and
use the Hawaii state licensing standards

to determine what is appropriate in real-
life scenarios. They will compare NAEYC

program accreditation standards to licensing
standards.

In this workshop, students will explore
various issues that are affecting early
childhood care and education and articulate
how these issues are interconnected.
They will also describe the early care and
education system.
