Desktop GIS Skills for Hawaii (Using ArcGIS Pro)

Are you an ArcGIS ArcMap user who needs to move up to ArcGIS Pro? Are you new to GIS and need to learn the fundamentals of GIS? Either way, this course provides you hands-on training using current desktop GIS tools. GIS is an integral part of a technology infrastructure and these tools are used by organizations all over the world to monitor and manage the environment, work more efficiently, provide better customer service, and save money.

This course uses online materials and in-class exercises to cover fundamental concepts of GIS and the major functionality contained in ArcGIS software from Esri. It also covers how to download GIS data from the City and County of Honolulu and the State of Hawai`i and how to combine that data with your own GIS data.

You will work with a variety of ArcGIS Pro tools as you learn to create maps, find information, create and edit geographic data, and solve a variety of geographic problems. If you’re currently an ArcGIS ArcMap user, you’ll receive guidance on how to apply your knowledge of ArcMap tools in the ArcGIS Pro environment.

Class time will be spent reviewing the online materials and applying newly learned skills to Hawai‘i data and projects. By doing this, you have a benefit of applying theories to real world situations with the guidance of an instructor.

This course is taught using ArcGIS Desktop Pro 2.4.3.
