AWS Cloud Foundations

This introductory course provides a detailed overview of cloud concepts, AWS core services, security, architecture, pricing, and support. It contains 20 hours of course content and prepares participants to pursue an AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner certification.

AWS Solutions Architect - Associate

This intermediate-level course covers the fundamentals of building IT infrastructure on AWS and helps participants gain the skills they need to pursue the AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate certification. This course contains approximately 40 hours of content delivered through lectures, hands-on labs, and project work. 

The abilities validated by the AWS Solutions Architect - Associate certification are covered in this training: 

  • Effectively demonstrate knowledge of how to architect and deploy secure and robust applications on AWS technologies
  • Define a solution using architectural design principles based on customer requirements
  • Provide implementation guidance based on best practices to the organization throughout the life cycle of the project

The certification exam is not included in the price of the course but can be added. The AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate examination is intended for individuals who perform a solutions architect role and have one or more years of hands-on experience designing available, cost-efficient, fault-tolerant, and scalable distributed systems on AWS.

Required preparation: Completion of AWS Cloud Foundations or equivalent knowledge and experience.

Recommended prep: One year of hands-on experience designing available, cost-efficient, fault-tolerant, and scalable distributed systems on AWS and hands-on experience with AWS deployment and management services and use of compute, networking, storage, and database AWS services.

Server+ training prepares you to work in data centers or cloud environments administering any type of network server because of its vendor-neutral approach. Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to perform the duties of a server administrator. 


Topics covered include: 

  • Server Architecture - Understand, configure, and support server components

  • Server Administrations - Manage and maintain servers, including OS configuration, access control and virtualization

  • Storage - Support storage devices technologies, including capacity and growth planning

  • Security - Apply physical and network data security techniques

  • Networking - Configure systems for network connectivity, including physical and logical elements

  • Disaster Recovery - Understand disaster recovery and implement backup techniques

  • Troubleshooting - Diagnose and resolve system hardware, software, connectivity, storage, and security issues

This course can benefit you when you are preparing to take the CompTIA Server+ examination and related exams.


As a CompTIA Academy, Honolulu Community College uses curriculum and resources developed by CompTIA. Materials are reviewed by their advisors and are continually updated to reflect current industry standards and best practices. Certification is  not included in this course and can be added at the price of the certification exam upon request.


Preparation: It is highly recommended that you have knowledge and experience equivalent to concepts covered in  A+, Linux+, Network+ and at least one year of IT experience.
